This weekend we had a jammed packed weekend of racing! Throughout the weekend, we had swimmers in 2 different Open Water Swims and also had athletes get fast in the pool for the Perth City Classic Swim meet! Firstly we had the Swim Thru Rottnest, a classic in the WA open water calendar! We had 7 athletes from our Swimming Strength & Performance Program competing, all placing within the top ten for their category, 2 winning and 3 placing within the medals!
Here are the athletes and their placings!
Kaiden Richings 16:53.2 (3rd place)
Rosie Willson 18:51.1 (2nd place)
Jay Prchal 20:10:4 (1st place)
Viki Shelver 23:01 (1st place)
Sari Galsworthy 25:01 (6th place)
Yolanda Carstens 25:57 (9th place)
Mellisa Dale 27:05 (8th place)
Well done everyone!
Next up we had the FSLS Indian Ocean Open Water Swim, this swim was postponed from its original date and we would have had a lot more participants if the original date was maintained but we had 3 athletes take part in the race over the 5km distance!
Here are their times: Fiona Cullinane 1.14.19
Allison Hass 1.17.40
Coach Danieka Masterton 1.21.12
Great swims and great times from the group!
Lastly, some of our pool athletes jumped in for a bit of race practice at the Perth City Long Course Classic! We are super happy with everyone at this meet and how they swam in the lead-up to state championships at the end of the month!
Shout out to our partnered club Perth City Swimming Club for putting on the meet last minute to help facilitate the overwhelming need for more opportunities to compete before Swimming WA State Long Course Championships.
The meet had 1032 entries to the event which is a massive effort and great for the club moving forwards!
